David Tellez is the Vice President of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 873, a union representing thousands of technicians in Ontario’s film and television industry. For 20 years he worked as a metal fabricator and specialty builder in film set construction and special effects before being elected as vice president in 2020.
David’s primary portfolio is Local 873’s health and safety program. Since taking office he has increased health and safety training at the Local’s training centre, successfully bargained better safety and working conditions, provides consultation and representation for WSIB claims, and assists IATSE health and safety reps with their day to day duties.
